It’s interesting how Americans are pride of their country, history, heroes. It is represented (inter alia of course) by monuments which surround people almost in every city, and especially in Washington, DC. At first glance I envied them. But on the other hand I realized with the following:
- isn’t it that they are still insecure that they are not one nation and these monuments help them cement them together?
- why are they so big? Inferiority complex? But why?
- maybe relative short history (when compared to Europe or Asia) makes them want to emphasize every event. Just to look like that there were a lot of them in the past.
